What is Social Media Marketing?

 These days, I can usually see people who use social media with their smartphone or tablet everywhere. Now I felt that it becomes a kind of lifestyle. People want to express their own opinions, feeling and share them with others. With this trend, many companies started to use social media to promote their products or services naturally.

 According to Wikipedia, Social Media Marketing refers to the process of gaining website traffic or attention through social media sites. 
 (However, people in Korea use a slight different term, SNS marketing to represent the concept of social media marketing. The word SNS is an abbreviation for Social Networking Service.)





 Anyway, Social Media Marketing is based on the Social media such as facebook, twitter and etc. To understand the concept of Social Media Marketing, we need to understand what "social media" is.

 Generally, "Social Media" refers to an online tool and media platform which is opened to everyone who use it to share their own ideas, experiences and interests with others. Social Media became grows like an organism. Therefore, there is no clear division between producer and consumer, that is, it is not one-sided online tool. 





 These days, it is hard to find people who are not using social media. People can choose  one or more social media based on their own taste and express their identity and interact with others all over the world not having time and space restraints. This is why more and more people fall into using social media. 

 This trend must be a good chance for companies to communicate with their target customers effectively not spending much money and time.  

  In short, Social Media Marketing refers to one tactic of marketing that companies do marketing making good use of social media.
